Dumpster fire averted
Had a brief mini adventure this afternoon. It started with my usual night shift routine of waking up and walking Loki. We took one of my shorter normal routes due to the time constraints of working 12hr shifts. While returning to my house I chose to take the alley instead of the street in hopes of giving Loki some new things to sniff. Less than a block from my house I noticed that one of the dumpsters was actively smoking. Curious I walked over to it and peeked in to find a cardboard box lightly on fire.
The culprit after some light stomping.
I was able to get the box out of the dumpster and onto the concrete of the alley where I put my shoes to work eliminating the flames.
With the immediate source of smoke out I got on the phone with the fire department to have the professionals follow up as I had neither the time nor equipment to ensure the fire was properly out. The Longview Fire Department quickly showed up and dealt with it, I was honestly surprised at how fast they arrived. And unlike the last dumpster fire in my area the dumpster managed to survive without becoming a pile of melted plastic!
I have had my adventure for the day and done my good deed for the year so back to work and evil deeds I go!
